Student Tardy Policy

 

Each teacher determines the acceptable number of tardies in their classroom.  It is recommended that after somewhere between three to five tardies an action should be taken by the teacher to deal with the problem:

 

Step 1:  Student should be clearly warned that his/her being late is indeed a problem.

 

Step 2:  Parent/guardian of the student should be contacted by the teacher.

 

Step 3:  At 3 to 5 tardies, the student's counselor should be informed.

 

Step 4:  Additional tardies warrant referral to the Community Specialist

 

Step 5:  The issue may become a matter of defiance, thus involving the Dean of Students who will consider appropriate disciplinary action.
