Program Description:

Web Design introduces students to basic web design using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).  Students will use high end computers to build web sites, link web pages, and use exciting and powerful design software.  Throughout the course students are introduced to planning and designing effective web pages; implementing web pages by writing HTML and CSS code.  Students will be required to use page layout techniques, graphics, text formatting, multimedia and images.  The end goal will be the ability to quickly and properly produce several complex and functional multi-page websites.  This is a hands on project based course that does not require any prior knowledge of HTML or Web Design but students should be eager to learn and have good attendance.



WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

  • Recognize and understand HTML web page elements
  • Know how to write HTML code using notepad
  • Understand and apply effective web design principles
  • Enhance web pages using text formatting, color, graphics, images, and multimedia using CSS and
  • Incorporate forms and hyperlinks into web pages
  • Understand and apply CSS to format web page elements
  • Plan, design, and publish a multi-page websites
  • Using complex and powerful WYSIWYG programs such as Adobe Dreamweaver and Word Press

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES:

This is an introductory skills course which provides students with the foundational building blocks of web design and development.  Many successful web design students often pursue the following careers:

  •                 Systems Analyst

HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS AVAILABLE:

Students earn 5 units of elective credit each semester toward their high school graduation.

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENT(S):

Web Design students should have a solid attendance record and high school level reading, writing, math, and computer skills.

  •     Has been teaching Career Technical Education Courses at North High School since 2011.
  •     I currently teach Video Game Design, Web Design, and Career Tech.
  •     Graduate of Stockdale High School
  •     Graduate of CSUB  MBA and BA.  Go Runners! 
  •     Coaches the North High Esports Team

(We currently play Overwatch and League of Legends...ask me about joining!!!)

  •     My classroom is Industrial Arts-3 by the tennis courts
