Program Description:

Construction 1  is a class designed for the student to explore the uses of wood.  Critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, listening, and employability skills will be developed throughout the course.


WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

Students learn to plan, layout, measure, cut, fit, fasten, assemble, and finish a completed wood project, and gain the ability to identify quality construction in wood furniture.


PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES:

Certification from Carpenters Union


HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS AVAILABLE:

Students earn 5 units of elective credit each semester toward their high school graduation.

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENT(S):

Math skills helpful
