Introduction to Business

Program Description
Has business always peaked your interest? Maybe you want to start your own business one day or you just want to know more about it and hopefully use that knowledge to your advantage at your job. Business is everywhere and impacts everyone! It’s the store on the corner, the commercial on TV or radio, it’s the online store you order from, etc. It’s how our world and economy function! This course gives you an in depth look at how businesses function, the different roles within a business and much more! Students learn how to be an effective employee, as well as how to manage their personal finances. If you want to prepare for life after high school, this is the class for you!
WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN:
- An understanding of business activities and the departments within a business.
- The impact of business on economics, globally and nationally.
- The functions of an effective and profitable business.
- How to manage personal finances (budgeting, banking, credit, saving, investing, etc.)

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENT(S):
Students should have average or better skills in reading & math and be motivated to work on a daily basis.
MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:
- 4th year teaching at North High.
- California CTE credential in Business & Finance.
- Bachelors Degree from CSUB and going back for Masters Degree soon.
- Prior to teaching, I worked for the Bakersfield Condors for over 10 years.
- I teach 2 other courses: Virtual Enterprise & Fashion Production.
- Big sports fan!
- My goal is to prepare you for a successful future.
