Skills USA is a national organization, focused on Career and Technical Education, that prepares students for careers in trade, technical and skilled service competitions. Students are challenged to demonstrate their industry-standard skills through local, regional and state competitions. For the first time ever, Bakersfield’s Regional Occupational Center was chosen to host the Central California and Coastal regional competition. Nearly 1,600 demonstrated their skills in future careers such as construction, culinary arts, drafting, robotics, graphic arts and many other industrial areas. North High School was proud to have three teams competing, in Graphic Arts, Photography and Robotics. While results will not be available for a couple of weeks, North’s teams represented our school well and we look forward to sending students to the state competition in Ontario, CA later this semester.
