Program Description

Students will have an opportunity to learn the basics of photography in this course.  They will learn about how to properly use DSLR cameras, exposure, composition, lighting and image editing software.  Students will also learn the history and invention of photography and basic studio lighting.  By the end of the school year, you will produce an online portfolio/website.  This is a project-based class with many fun and interesting assignments and opportunities to practice your newly developed skills at real world events.

HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS AVAILABLE:

1 full year – 10 credits  UC/CSU Approved F

Bakersfield College Dual Enrollment ART B16 (3 transferable semester units)

 

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENT(S):

Photography students should have a solid attendance record and high school level reading, writing, math, and computer skills.  Graphic Arts

Currently teaching:  Photo DE, Honors Geology DE, GATE Earth Science

Graduate of California State University of Bakersfield, Geology BA

Graduate of Point Loma, Educational Leadership M.Ed.

Owned and operated Hydro-Graphics Adventure Photography for 9 years

Continue to sell photography for stock, publication, and fine art

I enjoy exploring in the Sierra Nevada with a pack on my back and a camera!
