Program Description

Are you interested in the clothing industry? This class operates the print shop on campus. You will learn how to operate a heat press machine to make custom apparel (t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) as well as the poster printing machine. Whenever a sports team or club on campus wants something made, this class works alongside Mr. Chavez’s graphic design class to make it happen. His class designs the art or graphic and this class handles the production side of things (ordering the shirts, invoicing, printing, inventorying, delivering, etc.) Whenever there isn’t an order to be produced, you will learn important business topics such as how pricing is determined, marketing, and more.

 

WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

  • The production process of custom apparel and signage.
  • The financial aspect of a business, including purchasing and invoicing.
  • The importance of inventorying and customer service.
  • Numerous important business topics (Marketing, Sales, etc.)

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENT(S):

Students should have average or better skills in reading & math, be motivated to work on a daily basis and work well with others.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:

  • 4th year teaching at North High.
  • California CTE credential in Business & Finance.
  • Bachelors Degree from CSUB and going back for Masters Degree soon.
  • Prior to teaching, I worked for the Bakersfield Condors for over 10 years.
  • I teach 2 other courses: Virtual Enterprise & Introduction to Business.
  • Big sports fan!
  • My goal is to prepare you for a successful future.
