Link Crew

Program Description

Link Crew is a freshman transition program in high schools throughout the U.S., Canada, and South America.  The goal of Link Crew is to train select upperclassmen to “link” incoming freshmen to North High events, traditions, and activities.  Following a Freshmen Orientation, Link Leaders spend the year visiting 9th grade classrooms teaching short lessons highlighting the importance of getting involved and becoming an active student at NHS.  In addition, Link Leaders conduct lunchtime activities, Tailgates for sporting events, awareness of spirit weeks, and preparation for Final Exams.  Link Crew is a wonderful opportunity for upperclassmen to become involved at NHS, give back to their school and community, and continue to pass on valuable NHS traditions.

WHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN:  Students in the 4th period Link Crew class will actively engage in leadership lessons, enhance presentation skills, develop communication skills, and organizational skills through project planning.

HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS AVAILABLE:  Students earn 5 miscellaneous credits toward graduation. On transcripts, Link Crew is shown as “Student Leadership” and is outstanding to list on college applications as an extracurricular, community service-based leadership class.

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENT(S):  In order to join Link Crew, you must submit an application using the links below.  Link Crew coordinators select around 80 Link Leaders each year.  The selection process involves several factors as coordinators select a wide range of students who represent the NHS student body.  If you were already selected as a Link Leader as a junior, use the “RETURNING” application link.  If this is your first time applying, use the “NHS Link Crew” application link.

*REMINDER: Link Crew is only for upperclassmen- you must be a current sophomore or junior to apply.*

Mr. Dutto

Mr. Dutto began Link Crew at NHS in 2007.  As a proud NHS graduate, Class of 1995, Mr. Dutto loves to see North’s traditions preserved and passed on to future graduating classes.  Every year the goal for Link Crew is to “fill any gap” needed at NHS, and to make it a safe, spirited, and welcoming place for every student.
